#Pumpkinheads…by Rainbow Rowell and Illustrated by Faith Erin Hicks

‘You’re my best friend! You’re better than my winter-spring-summer friends.’   I am pretty new to graphic novels so when I won a copy of ‘Pumpkin Heads’ on GoodReads I was super excited. ‘Pumpkinheads’ is written by Rainbow Rowell and illustrated by Faith Erin Hicks. It tells the story of two friends who work at their local fall festival each year ( the story takes place during one shift). Since I love Rainbow Rowell, I love fall festivals, and I adore Autumn I was super excited about Pumpkinheads.   The illustrations were amazing. I particularly loved the map of the fall theme park. The colors were all in Autumn tones so they really set the scene well ( I could almost smell the pumpkin).   One of my favorite parts was learning about all the cool snacks that Deja ate […]

The Great Unexpected…by Dan Mooney-#Blogtour

The Great Unexpected…by Dan Mooney-#Blogtour

‘ They’d ask, sometime later, what he had been trying to prove, what was his message, what did he what to tell the world, and that itself would be the message.’   As odd as it sounds, some of my favorite characters are grumpy. Franks’s bright and friendly […]

Pretty in Punxsutawney…by Laurie Boyle Crompton

Pretty in Punxsutawney…by Laurie Boyle Crompton

Favorite Quotes   ‘Couples like this are even worse than those first-date pairings where the awkwardness is so palpable, they should have to buy it a separate ticket’.   ‘I’ve always loved the way the city is surrounded by three rivers that make a Y where the Monongahela and the Allegheny become the Ohio River, forcing the city into a point.’   ‘Sometimes, we’re simply enjoying whatever day we happen to be in.’   ‘Being a girl is not a competition.’   My Review   Andie moves to Punxsutawney P.A. before the beginning of her senior year. When she falls asleep watching ‘Pretty in Pink’, before her first day of school, everything goes south.  The next day she wakes up to the same day she just finished. Andie must figure out how to get out of her perpetual first day of school in […]
