Remember Me…by Chelsea Bobulski #blogtour

‘First rule of storytelling,’ he says, a glint in his eyes.’ Everything is possible.’   Nell is still trying to recover from the loss of her mom when her dad moves her across the country. The move is for his new job in a historical hotel. In 1907 Lea is being forced to marry a man she doesn’t love to improve her family’s circumstances.   I love me some historical fiction and some spooky stories. So when this novel was described as a cross between ‘Titanic’ and the ‘Shining’, I knew this story was for me.   The Winslow Hotel in this novel was a character in itself. It is so full of life and history while still being so very creepy. Having worked in the hotel industry I really loved some of the hotel lingo and inferences in the novel. […]

Parasite Life…by Victoria Dalpe

Parasite Life…by Victoria Dalpe

Jane is stuck in a creepy old house with her invalid mother. She has no idea why her mother is wasting away. Jane is about to find out the truth about her mother and in the process herself.   When I began reading ‘Parasite Life’, I genuinely had no idea that it is a vampire novel. I had never read a vampire novel before so ‘Parasite Life’ is something new for me.    The vampire elements of the story are second to the intriguing storyline of Jane uncovering her mother’s mysterious past. I think that Jane finding out about her mothers past through a hidden diary is an interesting way to fill in gaps in the story. Despite Jane’s troubling behavior, I found myself really loving Jane (one of the things I loved about Jane is how good […]

Chowders…by Vanessa Morgan-Blog Tour

Clowders by Vanessa Morgan Genre: Horror, Suspense Clervaux, Luxembourg. This secluded, picturesque town in the middle of Europe is home to more cats than people. For years, tourists have flocked to this place – also known as “cat haven” – to meet the cats and buy cat-related souvenirs. When Aidan, Jess and their five-year-old daughter, Eleonore, move from America to Clervaux, it seems as if they’ve arrived in paradise. It soon becomes evident, though, that the inhabitants’ adoration of their cats is unhealthy. According to a local legend, each time a cat dies, nine human lives are taken as a punishment. To tourists, these tales are supernatural folklore, created to frighten children on cold winter nights. But for the inhabitants of Clervaux, the danger is terrifyingly real. Initially, Aidan and Jess regard this as local superstition, but when Jess runs […]

Sarah…by Teri Polen

Sarah…by Teri Polen

Cain, his mother, and sister move into a new house after Cain’s father dies. Right away Cain realizes that strange things are going on in the attic. He soon finds out that it has something to do with the disappearance of Sarah, a student at his high school. I haven’t read any horror novels but have a few on my TBR, so I thought this one would be a good one to start with since it is kind of mix of YA contemporary and horror. What I Loved I loved the character of Finn. He was funny and blunt and was a good balance for the easy-going Cain. I also loved that Cain had a cat named Eby. I like when authors include pets in the story line. It adds a touch of realism to the stories. I also loved how […]
